After seeing the work I did for Caitlin, Laurie contacted me and asked if I wouldn’t mind covering her Dana Farber Marathon Challenge fundraising event at Salon Àcôté on Newbury street. Stylists from the salon as well as the owner, Alexander Safar, volunteered their time on Sunday so that every donation made in exchange for a wash, cut, and blow out, could go directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Some of the stylists even made baked goods. My favs were the brownies, hands down. The salon’s espresso and tea maker were a big hit as well. I even lent a hand outside the salon, encouraging passers by to get some pampering for a good cause. 1976 Boston Marathon winner, and Dana Farber Marathon Challenge team coach, Jack Fultz stopped by for a cut as well. Everyone who came in left with a fantastic haircut, as well as a big smile on their face. Seeing the transformations definitely made me want to come back to Àcôté when I’m not behind the lens. The Boston Marathon is still 2 weeks away, so open your hearts and your wallets and go to Laurie’s donation page where you can still make donations to fight cancer.
