When can a girl splurge and buy the dress of her dreams, slip into the shoes she’d never normally spend a pretty penny on, get stunning jewelry that makes her feel like a princess, and get her hair and makeup done like a movie star? On her wedding day of course! For girls (and guys) who are obsessed with fashion, their wedding day is when they can really let their inner fashionista come out to play and can really treat themselves to those designer looks they love almost as much as their fiancés.
These days wedding dress designers, brides, grooms, and wedding photographers are finding inspiration in the pages of Vogue, on sites like FashionWatch.com, and directly from the runways. So it is with great pleasure to announce that I will be going to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York once again this year in February. I am honored to be a member of the International Press Corps covering the 20th annual New York Fashion Week. I will be covering many different fashion shows for both FashionWatch’s site NewYorkFashionWeek.com, where you can watch the shows live, and my Something Blue Blog. My coverage will focus on fashion and beauty trends that can be applied on your wedding day: everything from the hair, makeup, dresses, and suits, all the way down to how they light the backdrop for the show. If there are some designers you would like me to focus on for you, please let me know. You can see the schedule for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week here.
While in New York, I will also be teaching a photography class aimed at those wanting to blog about Fashion Week. On February 2nd, I am putting on a 3-hour hands-on workshop at Calumet Photographic to help fashion bloggers and beauty bloggers take better photos during Fashion Week. Model and Blogger Aisha Gunnel who was in the recent Project Runway All Stars finale will be one of our models. Hopefully this will result in blogs with even better photographic coverage of Fashion Week for all you fashionistas out there. Can’t wait to share all the amazing sights at New York Fashion Week with you in February!
