Dan and Marianne are a beacon of hope for all those singles at bars in New York City looking for their perfect someone. Marianne, who originally hails from the Bay State, went to school in New York City and totally fell in love…with the city, so she decided to make it her home. It was a good decision too, because it was there in a local bar, that she met her perfect match in Dan. I met this wonderful couple through Holly Fawcett of In the Pink Ink Events. If you are looking for a wedding planner who really has a passion for her job, knows her stuff, and LOVES her clients, then Holly is the one for you. I was thrilled when she told me that Dan and Marianne wanted to do their engagement shoot in Central Park, a total engagement shoot dream location come true for me! Since we were coming in from Boston, I had Marianne and Dan scout out locations in the park in advance. Dan even took photos of the locations on his phone to send to me for my input on what was or was not a good spot.
The day before the shoot, the weather report called for rain in New York City during the golden hour I had intended to have the shoot. Luckily, Marianne and Dan were good sports, as was my husband Matt who drove into New York with me to be my assistant and just all around excellent companion, and we started the shoot at 9AM. That day it was a bit overcast, but the temperature was just perfect, no jackets required. The weather ended up being a great thing, the impending storms kept the park from being a total madhouse. We were even able to get some shots where it seemed as if Marianne and Dan were the only people in the park.
Shooting with Marianne and Dan was as easy and breezy as the day was. They were so natural in front of the camera, it was as if they had been models doing this their whole lives. The fact that they could barely keep their eyes off each other without naturally smiling didn’t hurt either. With the Plaza, beautiful flowering trees, and ivy covered bridges as our backdrops, I felt like a photographer for Town and Country magazine. By 10:30AM we had hit all of Dan and Marianne’s choice locations. In that hour and half, we did our own engagement shoot, witnessed about 5 other engagement shoots, met a fella full out dressed as a wizard (cape, pointy hat, beard and all, see picture below), heard a choir sing, and saw a wedding on the beautiful Bethesda Terrace. All I can say is, only in New York.
