Sometimes life throws you an amazing stroke of luck

So Fucci’s Photos is officially now located in Boston, aka Bean-town. All our boxes are unpacked and most things are finding places in our apartment. My photography equipment is finding new homes in numerous nooks and crannies. To get back in the swing of things, I perused the craigslist gigs page for Boston to see if there were any quick jobs available. The ad read like this “New York City Digital Content Company is looking for a Still Photography Production Assistant to aid with a shoot Tue. Nov. 9th and Wed. Nov. 10th in and around Haverhill, MA. We are working with a small crew and hoping to find local PA who are interested in working with us with their own camera equipment. The shoot will focus on a best selling Massachusetts author. We will also be capturing the beauty of the surrounding area and various landmarks.” Luckily for me, the people at Open Road Media decided they liked my work and hired me for the job. This morning I was greeted by the extremely amiable Andre Dubus III, celebrated author of House of Sand and Fog, offering made to order coffee, tea, and pancakes. Lily and Luke from Open Road Media came prepared with more light stands and equipment than many local TV stations have. Lily worked to get the lighting just perfect. They had me there to take both stills and to work as a 2nd videographer. I had never used the 5d mark ii for this purpose, but it ended up being quite easy to use. Lily’s hard work on the lighting paid off and gave both the still images and the video a real cinematic feel. While there we met Andre’s friend who is teaching a course in ethics at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. While talking to him over lunch, my rather unique background of a Ph.D. in bioethics became a topic of discussion and he suggested that I do a guest lecture in his class. What a TREAT! I didn’t think the day could get any better, until Andre’s brother also came by, who turns out to be an architect. He needed to get photos done of previous buildings he had designed and asked if Fucci’s Photos could do that for him. This was an avenue I was really hoping to get into during the slower winter months. So I have hit the ground running in Boston and am thrilled to be here. My first wedding in Boston is this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited. Here are a few of the images they choose to use:
